Wood Culture
We have lived alongside trees for hundreds of thousands of years, and our futures are intertwined. Wood culture is inherently circular and represents the interconnectivity between people and wood. It celebrates our deep respect and ancient understanding of trees and timber.
Wood culture builds on the wisdom and skills of the past to honour home-grown timber. It connects people who grow trees, process and use wood. Wood culture means timber being used to create the beautiful items and spaces that offer longevity, functionality and joy.
This endeavour lifts people up, nurturing both the land and our wood culture.
A network of woodlands and workshops hosting open days across the UK throughout June 2025.
Come along to meet the people growing trees, experience the places using wood, and see first hand the role trees and timber can have in our future.
What unites everyone you will meet, is the desire to champion homegrown timber and sustainable productive woodlands for present and future generations.
Wood Culture: The Journal of Woodland Heritage is thought-provoking and inspirational, covering every part of the timber supply chain. So, if you love to read about forestry but want to know more about how timber is used, from seeds to sawdust, the Wood Culture Journal is for you.
Woodland Heritage offer bursaries for the Woodland To Workshops course. We also offer project grants.
